Luke 21:25,26 NAS “There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay (tension from difficult circumstances that "won't move" which produces distress or anguish – causing someone to feel "locked in" or “tightly pressed”) among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting (lose morale, become disheartened, like lapsing into temporary unconsciousness) from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world...
After 22 years of attempting to help the civilians in war-torn Somalia, the humanitarian group Doctors without Borders is pulling out all of their staff and closing all programs in the country.
The group says they are leaving because of “extreme attacks on its staff”. It said terrorists and even some civilian leaders “support, tolerate or condone the killing, assaulting, and abducting of humanitarian aid workers.”
A BBC correspondent says that in many parts of the country Doctors without Borders is the only source of health care for civilians.
The move is considered shocking because DWB is well-known for rushing into areas of risk and maintaining facilities where many humanitarian groups would not attempt to offer help and services.
The group’s international president said the decision to leave was one of the hardest the group has ever had to make.
“In choosing to kill, attack, and abduct humanitarian aid workers, these armed groups, and the civilian authorities who tolerate their actions, have sealed the fate of countless lives in Somalia,” Unni Karunakara said in a statement.
Islamic terrorists have been trying to take over Somalia over the last several years but have been pushed out of the major cities by African Union forces and Somalian troops. However, the terrorists still control many parts of the rural areas.
