Egyptian President’s Attempt To Open Parliament Refused

II Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi’s attempt to reopen the country’s parliament has been rejected by Egypt’s highest court. The court had previously ruled the election of most of the parliament was unconstitutional and required new elections.

Mursi, who claims to have resigned from the Muslim Brotherhood but is still closely affiliated with the group, wants to get the parliament back in service because most of the seats in the tainted election were won by Muslim Brotherhood candidates.

The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) said their decision to dissolve parliament is “final and not subject to appeal.” The court emphasized they were not “a party to any political confrontation.”

Mursi has previously stated in his presidential address that elections would be held within 60 days of the country’s constitution being approved by referendum.
