Luke 21:25,26 NAS “There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay (tension from difficult circumstances that "won't move" which produces distress or anguish – causing someone to feel "locked in" or “tightly pressed”) among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting (lose morale, become disheartened, like lapsing into temporary unconsciousness) from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world...
Heavy rains have deluged southern Missouri, resulting in a number of emergency evacuations and at least two deaths.
The city of Waynesville was hit so hard that police barricaded the downtown area to prevent looting and injuries in flooded neighborhoods. It was also the scene of one confirmed and one suspected death.
A mother and her son were caught in the flood waters. The mother is still missing and presumed dead. The child’s body was found Tuesday morning. Authorities suspect she had been taking her child to day care when she was caught in flood waters.
“Mitchell Creek flows into the Roubidoux, which flows into the Gasconade, which goes into St. Louis. So if she is in the water, she could be in the Mississippi River,” Pulaski County Sheriff Ron Long told KSPR.
The rain has been so heavy that the Gasconade River broke a record at over 32 feet on Wednesday near Jerome, Missouri, blocking Interstate 44 in both directions.
KSPR-TV reporter Chris Brewer said that at least one home in Hollister, Missouri was washed away in an early Thursday morning flood with an evacuation of another 50 homes on Old Mill Road. Emergency crews made several water rescues as Turkey Creek overflowed its banks.
Local officials say the creek rose about 15 feet in 25 minutes.
“It was pretty violent,” Hollister city administrator Rick Ziegenfuss told the Branson Tri-Lakes News.
Roaring River State Park is under as much as 9 feet of water as of Thursday morning.
Stone County officials say a bridge was washed out over Brush Creek and that a number of roads had to be closed because of flood waters. Multiple people were rescued and evacuated in the Blue Eye area during the early morning hours.
Forecasters are calling for a 60% chance of rain Thursday night with a 20% chance Friday.
I live in Waynesville, MO. Roads that usually never have water on them now have water with current running over them. Recovery is tough. As soon as we get places cleaned up, it starts to rain and the Roubidoux threatens to overflow again. Our hearts and prayers go out to Hollister, MO as well as those in Nashville, TN and parts of Georgia. Now is the time to be Christian in our efforts by doing for others in the name of Jesus Christ. Remember what Pastor Jim and Lori have been telling us as far as what to do in emergencies. Be safe everyone. Blessings to all.
May God protect y’all and my prayers go out , love u y’ all
