A homicide bomber targeted a policeman’s funeral in Quetta, Pakistan killing at least 28 people including a senior police officer.
Officials say at least 50 were wounded in the attack so the death toll could rise
Deputy Inspector General of police Fayaz Sumbal was one of the people killed in the attack. Sumbal spotted the homicide bomber and asked officers to search him. When the officers questioned the killer, he detonated his device.
The funeral was for a policeman who was shot and killed while he was with his children earlier Thursday.
No one has claimed responsibility but the attack is in the same manner as previous attacks by the Taliban. The BBC reports that 90 people were killed in 11 attacks during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
