The attack by the Somali terrorists is believed to be in response to Kenya’s donation of troops to the Somalian government that is trying to drive al-Shabab from the country. The military, along with troops from surrounding African nations, have forced the terrorists to retreat from key port cities and airports in the last six months.
Police in the region have been put on high alert for terrorist militants that could be attempting to cross the Somali/Kenyan border.
Al-Shabab is suspected in two other recent attacks in the capital city of Nairobi that has killed at least 15 people and wounded hundreds. The attacks are causing tension between Kenyans and ethnic Somalis living in the country.
