Five people have been confirmed dead with the death toll likely to rise after Islamic terrorists conducted a homicide bombing raid on African Union peacekeepers in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Even though the bombing was allegedly targeting the African Union troops, a witness told the BBC all of the dead were civilians.
The al-Qaeda related terror group al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attack comes during the Islamic holy fasting month of Ramadan. The Somali government warned residents that Islamic terrorists usually are more active during Ramadan.
“Once again the enemies of peace show their true colours to the world – Muslims killing Muslims in the holy month of Ramadan,” Somali Prime Minister Abdi Farah Shirdon said in a statement. “Our Somali security forces are stepping up operations to prevent such attacks and we will leave no stone unturned to keep our people safe.”
