Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).
The Islamic terror group Boko Haram, who as recently as last week killed Nigerian police officials in terror bombings, has offered a cease fire to the government of Nigeria in return for amnesty. The group says that the amnesty could “help end violence” in northern Nigeria.
However, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan said that the government will not give amnesty to a group that continues to hide its leaders and members.
“On the issue of amnesty… you cannot declare amnesty for ghosts, Boko Haram are still operating as ghosts, you don’t see the person,” Jonathan told reporters.
Boko Haram has declared they will not stop fighting to establish an independent Islamic state in northern Nigeria and are responsible for over 1,400 deaths in the last three years. Currently, they are holding seven French citizens including four children they kidnapped in neighboring Cameroon.
Boko Haram supporters are now claiming that the name of the group has been co-opted by other Islamic groups who are not following the official Boko Haram leadership. However, none of the groups has willingly come forward to identify themselves and ask for peace talks.
