Religious freedom attorneys have filed a lawsuit in California aimed at protecting the religious freedom of a first grade student who was harassed by his school for handing out candy canes last Christmas with a message of Jesus.
Isaiah Martinez was told by his teacher “Jesus is not allowed in school” and prohibited from handing out the candy canes.
Advocates for Faith & Freedom filed suit in U.S. District Court to prohibit the West Covina Unified School District from stopping Isaiah’s distribution of the candy canes this year.
“The school has neglected to correct its actions, and after exhausting all options to avoid a lawsuit we were left with no choice but to file a complaint in federal court. We are asking the court to protect Isaiah’s rights and the rights of others like him from having their religious speech censored. Students do not shed their First Amendment rights just because they enter into a classroom,” attorney Robert Tyler said.
There has been no official statement from the school, however attorney James Long with the AFF says the school has made it clear they want only “religious neutrality.”
I ALMOST HATE TO WATCH THE NEWS ANYMORE AS ALMOST EVERY WEEK CHRISTIANS IN THE USA ARE BEING ATTACKED BY HATERS.I AM AT A POINT THAT I WISH GOD WOULD HURRY UP AND SEND HIS JUDGEMENT DOWN ON US,MAYBE THAT IS WHAT OUR COUNTRY NEEDS IS FOR GOD TO ALLOW A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE OR SOMETHING TO GET THE ATTENTION OF THESE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO TOTALLY TAKE GOD OUT OF EVERYTHING.IT BREAKS MY HEART.WE HAVE TO PRAY AND ASK FOR GOD TO PROTECT US AND TO GIVE US THE WISDOM TO ENDURE THIS PERSECUTION THAT IS TO COME,THE BIBLE SAYS THAT GOD IS NOT MOCKED,WE SHOULD BE TREMBLING AND GETTING READY FOR THE PRESSURE THAT MAY BE COMING.I FEAR FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN.THEY ARE BEING BRAINWASHED THAT GAY LIFESTYLES ARE NORMAL,THEY TRY TO SAY KILLING BABIES IS OKAY.OUR COUNTRY NO LONGER PUTS ANY VALUE ON LIFE.TV HAS GOTTEN SO DEMONIC AND SENSUAL,YOU CAN BE WATCHING A FAMILY SHOW WITH THE KIDS AND THE DEMONIC PREVIEWS ARE SO AWFUL.GORE,GUTS,BLOOD,SEX,FILTH OF EVERY KIND.WAKE UP AMERICA,OH BUT WE CANNOT PRAY IN SCHOOL FOR GOODNESS AND FOR GOD TO PROTECT THIS COUNTRY.SOMEONE MAY GET THEIR FEELINGS HURT SO FOR A FEW WE ALL HAVE TO SUFFER,I GRIEVE FOR OUR COUNTRY,WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO AMERICA?GOD HELP US.
The US is a Christian based country based & founded upon Judeo-Christian laws. The holiday’s & celebrations on a national level reflect this. Those who choose not to participate are free to do so, but NOT at the expense of others right to do so. Do you really think ANY other country would tell their own citizens they cannot celebrate their nations holiday’s?! This is p.c. beyond absurdity!
Things of a religious nature should not be allowed to be distributed in school by anyone, even if they are a first-grader. I would not appreciate a first-grader handing out Islamic, Atheist, Voodoo, Buddhist, or Satan-worshipping material to my child, disguised as a Holiday gift. The problem is: if you allow one, you must allow everyone to give out whatever they want.
