Luke 21:25,26 NLT “And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken.”
The Mexican military has airlifted the first 2,000 of an estimated 40,000 tourists trapped in the resort city of Acapulco after flooding from Tropical Storm Manuel.
Manuel and Hurricane Ingrid both struck the country within 24 hours, killing at least 57 and leaving tens of thousands without homes, power or clean drinking water.
Acapulco International Airport remains under feet of water and will likely be closed for the week. Main roads out of the city have been blocked by landslides caused by the massive rain and winds. Soldiers are guarding families waiting at Air Base Seven for a transport to take them to Mexico City.
Military officials are hoping a break in the weather will give them the chance to make emergency repairs and to reach remote areas that were cut off by the storms. Also, Mexican police are reporting looting taking place in parts of Acapulco and neighboring areas.
