Nigerian Islamists Attack Church

John 16:2  Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God.

“Hardly a day goes by when our senses are not bludgeoned by some new outbreak of terrorism in the Middle East.  Despite our best efforts at making and keeping the peace, political, economic, and religious tensions often lead to unrest, violence, and riots.”

-Jim Bakker in “Prosperity and the Coming Apocalypse”

Two people were killed and 48 wounded when the Al-Qaeda affiliated Islamic extremist group Boko Haram attacked a church on Sunday.

The attack was launched by a homicide bomber who detonated a car bomb outside the gates of St. John’s Church in Bauchi. Doctors tell the BBC that many of the injuries are serious and that the death toll will likely rise over the next few days.

Boko Haram is responsible for the deaths of 1400 civilians since 2010.

In response to the attacks, the Nigerian military launched an offensive against Boko Haram killing 35 people on Monday. The army also reported capturing another 60 during multiple operations.

Boko Haram has vowed to instill Sharia Law in Nigeria.
