A tornado that was part of a massive storm that struck the Midwest destroyed an Oklahoma City trailer park.
A storm spotter said the ground at the park was “scoured” after the tornado roared through Sunday afternoon. Reports of injuries were scarce early Sunday evening as overturned tractor-trailers on Interstate 40 are blocking rescue workers from reaching the park.
Aerial shots of the park show total destruction of homes and vehicles tossed onto their roof.
Houses northeast of Oklahoma City were damaged including outbuildings destroyed.
“When I first drove into the neighborhood, I didn’t see any major damage until I pulled into the front of my house,” Casbe Mathe told WQOW-TV. “My reaction was: I hope insurance pays for the cleaning.”
Tornadoes were also reported in Kansas and Iowa. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries as a result of those tornadoes.
