Rankin Brothers Celebrate July 4th on Grace Street

There are few things as powerful as people who love God using their gifts and abilities in a way that points people toward Him.

And the Rankin Brothers do just that.

The brothers and their backup singers launched into “Old Time Rock and Roll” and thus began a huge party on Grace Street.

One of the highlights of the Rankin Brothers show is how they can do pitch perfect impersonations of famous performers. Whether it was “Neil Diamond” singing “Sweet Caroline” or “Fats Domino” performing “Blueberry Hill”, those in attendance found themselves swept back to a high school gymnasium in the 1950s or 1960s when these songs were the hits of the day.

Some in the audience said the show was worth it just to see the mustache worn by “Sonny” during the Sonny & Cher portion of the show.

The show didn’t only take the crowd back to older times, they also sang some of country music’s greatest hits including an appearance by the “King of Country”, “George Strait”.

The crowd loved the opening of the second set when “Elvis” came out to a standing ovation. Lip quivering to drive the women crazy, “Elvis” sang “My Way”, “Dixie” and the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” among other hits. Women rushed the stage just to get one of “The King’s” scarves.

They also debuted their version of “Lean On Me” after it was suggested to them by Pastor Jim at a restaurant a few months prior to tonight’s show.

They ended the show with “He’s Alive” bringing everyone on Grace Street to their feet in worship.

Pastor Jim climbed on stage and prophesied that the Rankin Brothers some day would be preaching because of the way Jesus pours out of them.

“Music is just preaching to song,” Pastor Jim said. “And the singers would go before the armies!”

Pastor then gave the Rankin Brothers a Michael the Archangel sword while prophesying that some night during their show people will be slain in the spirit in their theater.
