Revelation 6:3-4 NCV When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!" Then another horse came out, a red one. Its rider was given power to take away peace (prosperity, rest) from the earth and to make people kill each other (butcher, slaughter, to maim violently, in streets), and he was given a big sword (assassins sword, terrorist, loud, mighty, sore afraid).
Syrian President Bashir al-Assad made a public address on state run television where he rejected calls for a United Nations buffer zone to provide humanitarian aid to civilians impacted by the country’s civil war.
“Talk of buffer zones firstly is not on the table,” he said. “Secondly it is an unrealistic idea by hostile countries and the enemies of Syria.”
The rejection comes amid the news that the total of refugees moving into Turkey is about to reach 200,000. The United Nations is reporting that 5,000 refugees are arriving at the Turkish border daily. In addition, the UN is reporting that over 2.5 million civilians in Syria are in need of humanitarian assistance.
In addition to rejecting efforts to protect citizens displaced by the war, al-Assad praised his troops for “doing a heroic job in every sense” and derided former leaders who left to join the resistance as being part of a “self-cleansing” of the government.
Rebel forces reported 11 civilians killed by government forces on Wednesday.
