Properties were damaged, some significantly, but no one was seriously hurt when a tornado ripped through Edmond, Oklahoma on Sunday.
Around 3:47 p.m., sirens began to sound in Edmond as the twister touched down near Broadway and 15th Street. The tornado then crossed Interstate 35 causing damage to the exterior of a soon-to-be-opened medical center.
“There is roof damage and damage to a large section of windows going across the front,” said Rachel Wright, Mercy spokesperson told the Edmond Sun. “There’s flagpoles down and billboards down. The good thing is it is still under construction but nobody was here.”
Lights were out at intersections and large parts of town are without power as a result of the storm. Many homes suffered substantial damage to roofs leading local authorities to warn residents about possible scam artists coming in to “repair” the damage.
Tornadoes continued to hit the state Sunday evening with damage in Luther and Wellston. A tornado was spotted in Norman, Oklahoma, the home of the campus of the University of Oklahoma.
My son Daniel lives in Edmond, his family/home was spared and he is working in Portland, Oregon.
Prayers continue to go up for god to move supernaturally for the survivors.
Shalom
