Tropical Storm Andrea Hammers Florida

Matthew 24:7 Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

Tropical Storm Andrea made landfall pelting Florida with heavy rain and wind heading toward Georgia and South Carolina.

The storm is not expected to strengthen into hurricane status but is causing flooding problems and is expected to continue to do it for the next two days. Also, the storm has spawned at least 8 confirmed tornadoes.

Tropical storm warnings are in effect from Florida through Virginia.

Florida Governor Rick Scott said the storm is fairly fast moving so it should have a minimized impact on the state. He called on residents of Florida to be vigilant and to be alert for flash flooding.

Eric Blake, a specialist with the Hurricane Center, said that another big threat to Florida is the storm surge. He said some coastal areas could see up to a 4 foot storm surge. 30 state parks closed their campgrounds because of the storm.

“My main concern is the winds,” said chief park ranger Bridget Bohnet. “We’re subject to trees falling and limbs breaking, and I don’t want anybody getting hurt.”
