The UN Security Council is meeting in a closed session over the violence in Egypt.
Argentina’s UN ambassador told Reuters after the meeting that all the parties were in agreement that the violence needs to immediately end.
The view of council members is that it is important to end violence in Egypt and that the parties exercise maximum restraint,” Maria Cristina Perceval said.
The death toll in the movement against the pro-Morsi, Muslim Brotherhood backed protest camps has risen to 638.
The interior ministry has given police the authorization to use live ammunition in cases of self-defense or if protesters are attempting to take over a government building.
Muslim Brotherhood protesters had earlier in the day burned a local government office after seizing the building.
Supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood burned at least three Christian churches on Thursday in an act of revenge for the government removing the protest camps. The Muslim Brotherhood has been stirring up false rumors that Christians were behind the removal of Mohammed Morsi.
There are 34 churches burned in 24 hours and the UN want the fighting to stop. They don’t have there eyes open. Christians are being killed by the Muslim Brotherhood and they tell the army to stand down.
