Joel 2:30 "I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, Blood, fire and columns of smoke.
Officials in the San Francisco area are trying to fill all area reservoirs quickly before ash from the ongoing Rim Fire near Yosemite National Park taints their water supply.
The massive fire is now roughly the size of the city of Chicago. Despite firefighters getting the blaze at least 15% contained, the flames are within a mile of the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir which feeds San Francisco.
Ash from the fire is already falling on the water but it has not sunken to the point it is entering the city’s intake pumps.
The general manager of San Francisco’s Public Utilities Commission says there is six months of clean water on hand but the city is watching to see if they will need to filter future supplies.
The fire has also impacted the city’s hydroelectric operations. An emergency declaration has opened $600,000 for the city to buy electricity on the open market.
The U.S. Forest Service says 4,500 buildings are currently threatened by the flames although none of the major buildings at Yosemite National Park are in danger. However, the giant sequioas of the park are being threatened.
P.S.
This last weekend, the city of Reno, Nevada had shut down much outdoor activity due to the smoke. What goes there today I am not sure.
Reno and San Francisco (& the entire area inbetween & throughout) have very strong historical ties. Gold, Silver, gambling, abandonment, debachery, etc. . .
Yes, it is as if Frisco (San Francisco) is under assult. Take out its’ water and power and what happens?
Govenor Brown (govenor of California) moved so to enable San Francisco to have power. He did this last week. As socialist as the man is, I do give him credit for being a man of get-it-done action.
As I understand (and have been told by some engineers) there are 2 or 3 power plants in the Hetch Hetchy – Rim fire area. And yes, Frisco does get their water from the Yosemite Hetch Hetchy reservoir which is over a hundred miles from Frisco.
And this last spring, I was seriously looking into moving / living just a mile or two west from this Hetch Hetchy lake.
I am really wondering if our once gentle (& even apothetic) cradle of life-style out here (in California) isn’t being rocked, being rocked with more gusto so as to wake us babies up. What’s next???
Because of Jesus,
