World Unemployment Could Hit Records in 2013

Revelation 6:5,6 NCV When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse, and its rider held a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard something that sounded like a voice coming from the middle of the four living creatures. The voice said, "A quart of wheat for a day's pay, and three quarts of barley for a day's pay, and do not damage the olive oil and wine!"

The International Labor Organization has released its annual report that states worldwide unemployment could hit record levels this year and could continue rising until 2017.

The current record is from 2009 when 198 million were unemployed. The ILO projects that by the end of 2013 there will be 202 million with a rise of 5.1 million from current levels. The report predicts 205 million unemployed by 2014.

East Asia, South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa showed the worst levels of unemployment. However, economists said the recession in Europe is rolling over to surrounding areas to depress economies and increase unemployment levels.

The ILO is also starting to track what they call “discouraged workers,” the number of people who have chosen to give up on finding a job because they feel the situation is hopeless. The ILO reports that “discouragement has grown out of proportion.”
