Abortion Advocates Descend On Arkansas

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (KJV) “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God…”

Editor’s Note: Throughout the scriptures, God has made it clear that shedding innocent blood is murder, and no murderer will enter heaven. In addition to the death of the unborn baby, abortion also substantially harms the women and many times, families, husbands, boyfriends and a whole sphere of relationships connected to and surrounding each abortion. Often, lifelong guilt and other social, relational, spiritual and even physical problems follow the murder of innocent babes in the womb. Pastor Jim Bakker believes that this issue, abortion, may be the single most significant issue that brings God’s judgment on this nation more than any other.

Arkansas is being called “ground zero” in the fight to protect the lives of unborn babies.

Last week, lawmakers overrode a veto by Governor Mike Beebe to put in place a law that would prohibit most abortions after the 12th week of pregnancy. The law, called the Arkansas Human Heartbeat Protection Act, mandates that an abortion is no longer legal if a heartbeat is detected during an ultrasound at the 12th week of pregnancy.

The bill does not punish women who seek an illegal abortion but doctors who perform the process could be fined, jailed and lose their medical licenses.

Republicans who supported the bill say there are exemptions for rape, incest, mother’s health and also for fatal fetal anomalies, thus meeting the biggest parts of the Roe v. Wade decision and abortion proponents.

The American Civil Liberties Union says they will file a lawsuit to stop the Arkansas bill along with the Center for Reproductive Rights. A spokeswoman for the ACLU called the bill “clearly unconstitutional.”

The author of the bill, state Senator Jason Rapert, said he next will introduce a bill that would stop state officials from giving state or federal funds to groups that perform abortions such as Planned Parenthood. Arkansas would then join Colorado, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin in stopping funding to the abortion providers.
