Flash Flooding In Mali Kills 24

Luke 21:25,26 NLT “And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken.”

In a pattern of worsening typhoon seasons across the globe, the capital of Mali has been hit with flash flooding being called “the worst case for several years.”

At least 24 people are confirmed dead from the flash flood which struck the capital city of Bamako. The BBC reports that minibus taxis were completely swept away in the flood waters. The death toll is expected to rise as non-government news outlets in the country are reporting as many as 50 dead.

Several deaths occurred when their mud houses collapsed from rain and flooding.

Local officials said that many of the homes that collapsed were illegally built in areas of the city that were designated for rain drainage. Bamako, a city of 2 million, is built on the bank of the River Niger which overflowed its banks.
