Muslim Brotherhood Overthrown in Egypt

Luke 21:9-10: [Jesus said] "When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away." Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom."

The Muslim Brotherhood’s control over Egypt lasted one year.

On the anniversary of his gaining the Presidency of Egypt, Mohammed Morsi was removed from office by the Egyptian military. The military then suspended the Constitution and declared martial law in the nation.

Most of the members of the Presidential team have been placed under house arrest. Morsi is being held at an undisclosed location by the military.

“The armed forces couldn’t plug its ears or close its eyes as the movement and demands of the masses calling for them to play a national role, not a political role as the armed forces themselves will be the first to proclaim that they will stay away from politics,” General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Egyptian television.

The head of the constitutional court, Adli Mansour, is the acting President until elections can be held.

Al-Sisi said that the country’s constitution would be returned to how it read before Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood put changes in place that favored Islamists over other citizens of the country.

The news of the military taking control was met with a huge celebration in Cairo including fireworks.
