Pope: Evolution Not Inconsistent With Creation

Pope Francis spoke to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and said that evolution is not “inconsistent” with creation.

“When we read about Creation in Genesis, we run the risk of imagining God was a magician, with a magic wand able to do everything. But that is not so,” he told those gathered for a discussion on “Evolving Concepts of Nature.” “He created human beings and let them develop according to the internal laws that he gave to each one so they would reach their fulfillment.”

“And so Creation continued for centuries and centuries, millennia and millennia, until it became which we know today, precisely because God is not a demiurge or a magician, but the Creator who gives being to all things,” Francis continued. “The Big Bang, which today we hold to be the origin of the world, does not contradict the intervention of the divine creator but, rather, requires it. … Evolution in nature is not inconsistent with the notion of creation, because evolution requires the creation of beings that evolve.”

The statements from the Pope come a month after the official papal astronomer said that he rejected the literal interpretation of Genesis and said that he finds truth in “science.”

  1. If the Pope’s logic is true it abolishes Adam and Eve the only two human beings in the garden who partook of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They were perfect in the day that they were created until sin marred their relationship with God and the true spirit of life in them died. They became flesh desparately needing a regeneration and to be born again. The Lord even then promised a Savour when he told Eve that her seed would wound the head of the serpent. Jesus is the second Adam who knew no sin and gave himself for the whole world to be reconciled to God. To be born again from above and live eternally by the Spirit of God.
This kind of theology that the Pope teaches erases the account of the first Adam, and it follows that the second Adam was unnecessary. These are Satan’s lies. He’s never gone away since that first temptation in the garden when he tempted Eve with “Hath God said?”. I reject this statement as false and a departure from the truth of the scriptures. I reject it as totally deadly and heresy itself. Christians everywhere, we need to look to the Lord and the Bible in these days of spiritual apostasy that the apostles of the Lord Jesus warned us would come. Our very life and the lives of others depend on it.
