The Taliban sent a terrifying message to local residents to not work with local authorities by beheading two young boys who spoke to the Afghan army and police.
Khan, 10, and Hameedullah, 16, were scrounging for food to feed their family when they stopped at a checkpoint for the Afghan army and a police checkpoint near their home. The Taliban then seized the boys on the road to their house and beheaded them.
“Both of them were innocent children and had nothing to do with government or foreigners,” Jamal Agh, chief of the Zhari district, told Reuters.
The Taliban denied involvement in the attacks despite the fact they have been proven to carry out similar attacks on children in the last year.
