Revelation 6:5,6 NCV When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse, and its rider held a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard something that sounded like a voice coming from the middle of the four living creatures. The voice said, "A quart of wheat for a day's pay, and three quarts of barley for a day's pay, and do not damage the olive oil and wine!"
The head of the U.S. Commerce department is telling foreign government officials and business leaders that the current government shutdown is impacting U.S. businesses.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker spoke at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting to leaders worried about the shutdown of the government. Philippine President Benigno Aquino stated what happens in the U.S. “affects us all.”
“The US economy is the number one economy in the world, what happens there affects all of us,” President Aquino told the BBC. “The world economy obviously is not in a position to withstand too much shock at this time when we are just recovering as a global economy.”
The statement came as U.S. defense contractor Lockheed Martin said it was placing 3,000 workers on unpaid leave because of the shutdown. The company warned that more employees were likely to be laid off if the shutdown continues into the next few weeks.
United Technologies had previously announced the layoff of 2,000 employees.
