UN Weapon Inspectors To Enter Syria
The Syrian government has agreed to allow UN weapons inspectors to visit three sites where chemical weapons were reportedly used against rebel forces.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that the inspectors would be leaving “as soon as possible” and are expected to visit the site outside Aleppo where 27 people were reportedly killed by chemical weapons earlier this year. Continue reading
North Korean Ship Caught In Panama With Hidden Weapons
A North Korean ship has been seized trying to pass through the Panama Canal containing a large cache of hidden weapons which may violate U.N. prohibitions against sending weapons to the unstable Asian nation.
Missiles reportedly “being sent for repair” from Cuba were found buried under large sacks of sugar. None of the weapons were listed on the ship’s manifest which is a violation of maritime law. Continue reading

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality has released a report that says that since the Muslim Brotherhood has overtaken Egypt harassment of women has skyrocketed.

The wife of jailed Christian pastor Saeed Abedini is going to address the United Nations Human Rights Council in an attempt to gain her husband’s freedom after failing to gain any support from the U.S. government.

UN Security Council Approves Mali Peacekeeping Force
Over 12,000 UN troops will be stationed in Mali beginning in July after a resolution received unanimous approval from the UN Security Council.
The force will include over 6,000 West African soldiers already serving in Mali. The French, who proposed the resolution, will now leave 1,000 troops in the country to fight al-Qaeda related terrorist groups. France originally said they would be removing all 4,000 troops sent to Mali in January to stop the terrorists from overtaking the Malian government. Continue reading
UN Secretary General Says Taliban Possibly Willing To Hold Talks
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon told the Security Council on Tuesday that the Taliban might be willing to talk with the UN about minimizing causalities in Afghanistan.
“I encourage a meaningful dialogue to reduce this intolerable, continuing death toll and to protect civilians,” Ban said. He attributed his position to recent Taliban statements he felt showed a “willingness to engage.” Continue reading
United Nations Report Claims Banning Abortion is Equal to Torture
The United Nations Human Rights Council is claiming that any country who bans abortion is torturing its women.
The report from the Committee against Torture says it “has repeatedly expressed concerns about restrictions on access to abortion and about absolute bans on abortion as violating the prohibition of torture and ill-treatment.” Continue reading
UN Eases Ban On Selling Arms To Somalia
The Somalian government will finally be able to purchase weapons in it’s fight against Islamic terrorists in the nation.
The United Nations Security Council announced they are partially lifting a ban on selling weapons to Somalia that has been in place since 1992. The lift will allow the country’s new government to purchase light arms to help in its battle to keep Islamic militants from taking over the country and to take back land under the control of the terrorists.
