Sellman shares health tips during Grace Street seminar

About 20 years ago, Dr. Sherrill Sellman was battling with all kinds of health problems.

She was battling arthritis, severe allergies and thyroid issues. She had trouble sleeping, and would often wake up in the middle of the night experiencing night sweats and anxiety attacks.

Looking back on it all, Sellman wouldn’t have had it any other way.

She views those challenges as a blessing from God, because it forced her to search for answers.

That search led Sellman to a career in naturopathic medicine, a holistic branch that focuses on using natural remedies to prevent and treat illnesses. She’s now a doctor, published author and radio host who uses her knowledge to give health advice and tips to women around the globe.

Her latest stop was Grace Street, where she held a women’s health seminar on Tuesday morning.

The seminar, “The Rejuvenation Code: Unlocking the Code to an Ageless Body,” focused on how naturopathic remedies like vitamins, food and meditation can be used to improve one’s health.

She said she was able to recover from her problems without visiting a traditional medical doctor, who she suspects would have likely prescribed antibiotics and other medicines rather than focusing on a naturopathic method that caters toward the body’s natural ability to restore itself.

“All those conditions are gone,” Sellman recalled of her health challenges. “I don’t have any of those symptoms. In fact, I’m healthier now than I was 20 years ago. If I can do it, you can do it.”

Sellman said there is a difference between a person’s chronological age, the number of years they have been on this planet, and their biological age, or how well their body is functioning.

By eating healthy and making good lifestyle choices, Sellman told the crowd of women gathered on Grace Street they could lower their biological age as their chronological age increased.

“It’s so easy to say ‘Oh, you know, I’m just getting older. This ache in my finger, it’s just because I’m getting older. I just have to put up with all these things,’” she told those in attendance. “I want you to know and my message today is that is not true and never accept those things.”

She said it’s never too late for women to start lowering their biological age, pointing to an example of one woman who celebrated her 100th birthday by skydiving.

She outlined several actions women could take, including getting their Vitamin D levels tested and ensuring that they have enough of it in their system. She also encouraged women to eat healthy foods — she suggested chia seeds and fresh cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, kale and cauliflower, with some extra virgin olive oil drizzled on top — and Omega 3 fatty acids.

All of them have broad-ranging positive impacts that can dial back biological age, Sellman said.

She added women can also benefit from getting enough sleep and spending 30 minutes a day relaxing — either through prayer, listening to music, meditating or another method that works.

Sellman also spoke highly of Silver Sol and the benefits it can bring.

She challenged those in attendance to take action toward improving their health.

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten,” she said. “My job today is inspiring you to take one baby step. Take one of the things we’ve talked about today. Just one. One food, one supplement. Start there and begin the journey to getting younger and healthier with every breath you take.”

Later Tuesday, Sellman was an in-studio guest for a taping of The Jim Bakker Show.

Company develops ‘tech tattoos’ to store medical, financial info

A software company has created a “tech tattoo” that allows a person to store their medical and financial information inside his or her body, according to a new report from CBS New York.

Officials from Chaotic Moon, the company behind the tattoos, told the television station that the tattoos can monitor a patient’s vital signs and other medical information and wirelessly send the data to doctors. The tattoos, which use special ink and microchips, can last up to a year and may replace the need for people to visit doctors for their annual physicals, according to the report.

The tattoos could also one day be used to help locate lost children or monitor the vital signs of soldiers in combat, the television station reported, and might also eliminate the need for wallets because people will be able to store their credit card information and identification in them.

Argentina threatened by worst locust plague in 60 years

Officials in Argentina are currently working to minimize the impacts of the biggest locust plague to affect the country in the past 60 years, The New York Times reported earlier this week.

A warm and wet winter helped boost the locust population, according to the report.

The extermination efforts could become more complicated in a matter of days, an agricultural official told the newspaper, as the locusts are expected to take flight and search for food.

Argentinian farmers are no stranger to the effects swarms can have on agriculture, The New York Times reported, and are preparing for the potential impact on crops and grazing lands.

Hackers target HSBC, disrupt online banking for UK customers

Hackers targeted one of the world’s largest banks on Friday morning, preventing some of HSBC’s customers in the United Kingdom from being able to access their online accounts.

HSBC issued a statement saying it “successfully defended” against a denial-of-service attack, in which hackers try to prevent people from accessing a given site by overwhelming it with traffic.

The company said the attack targeted its Internet banking system for the United Kingdom, but no transactions were affected. However, some United Kingdom customers who tried to log into their accounts Friday were greeted by a message that said online banking was unavailable.

That message did not appear on the company’s website for online banking in the United States.

HSBC tweeted that its service was recovering, though it was still seeing some denial-of-service attacks some five hours after it initially reported the incident. The bank added it was “working closely with law enforcement authorities to pursue the criminals responsible.”

About 17 million United Kingdom residents are HSBC customers, the bank says. It apologized to all those inconvenienced by the outage, and encouraged them to visit a branch for urgent issues.

It was the second time this month that HSBC customers had an issue with online banking.

The company tweeted that “an internal technical issue” prevented some people from accessing their accounts on Jan. 4 and Jan. 5. In a video tweeted from the company’s account, an HSBC official said that was not caused by a cyber attack and that customers’ data was never at risk.

HSBC has about 6,100 offices in more than 70 countries and territories across the globe, according to its website.

Syrian al Qaeda affiliate ‘much more dangerous’ than ISIS, new report says

While the United States continues its military campaign against the Islamic State, a new report charges that a different terrorist organization poses a greater long-term threat to the country.

Jabhat al Nusra, a Syrian al Qaeda affiliate, “is much more dangerous to the U.S. than the ISIS model in the long run,” according to a report released Friday by the Institute for the Study of War and the American Enterprise Institute.

“Any strategy that leaves Jabhat al Nusra in place will fail to secure the American homeland,” the report cautions.

The report offers a scathing critique of the United States’ anti-terrorism efforts in Iraq and Syria, saying the military campaign “largely ignores” Jabhat al Nusra, a group that “will almost certainly cause the current strategy in Syria to fail.”

It also argues the challenges facing the United States have been oversimplified, and warns a “collapse of world order” could allow the Islamic State and al Qaeda to grow stronger.

The report’s authors argue the United States must choose a new strategy, writing “passivity abroad will facilitate the continued collapse of the international order, including the global economy on which American prosperity and the American way of life depend.”

According to the report, Jabhat al Nusra differs from the Islamic State in its ideologies and practices. While the Islamic States seizing cities and imposes its will on civilians, brutally mistreating anyone who dissents, Jabhat al Nusra has taken a friendlier approach. It has aligned with several groups that oppose Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, a key point of contention in the nation’s ongoing civil war, and provided those groups with “advanced military capabilities.”

In doing so, the report says Jabhat al Nusra “has established an expansive network of partnerships with local opposition groups that have grown either dependent on or fiercely loyal to the organization.” The institutes charge the front has become so engaged with the opposition, it’s now “poised to benefit the most” from the downfall of the Islamic State and Assad’s removal.

“The likeliest outcome of the current strategy in Syria, if it succeeds, is the de facto establishment and ultimate declaration of a Jabhat al Nusra emirate in Syria that has the backing of a wide range of non-al Qaeda fighting forces and population groups,” the report states. Such an emirate would be a key component of al Qaeda’s global terror network, providing manpower and resources to other affiliates while “exporting violence into the heart of the West.”

The report calls al Qaeda and the Islamic State “existential threats” to Europe and the United States, and concludes that while the groups don’t currently have the ability to topple the West, they — along with broader turmoil in the world — threaten the way of life in those nations.

The report argues there are several public misconceptions about national security in the United States, namely that the Islamic State is the nation’s only enemy. The situation is far more complex, the report argues, and stretches far beyond the borders of the Middle East.

Groups such as the Islamic State and Al Qaeda are benefitting from events such as North Korea’s nuclear testing, Russia’s annexation of Crimea and Europe’s ongoing migrant crisis, the report’s authors wrote, calling them “symptoms of a collapsing world order” that exacerbate the threat.

Conflicting policies of Iran, Russia and China have also helped fuel the collapse, the report says.

“The collapse of world order creates the vacuums that allow … organizations such as al Qaeda and ISIS to amass resources to plan and conduct attacks on scales that could overwhelm any defenses the United States might raise,” the report states. “Even a marginal increase in such attacks could provoke Western societies to impose severe controls on the freedoms and civil liberties of their populations that would damage the very ideals that must most be defended.”

Scientists probe ‘brain fingerprints’ to help determine guilt, innocence

Some law enforcement agencies agencies across the world are scanning people’s brains to help determine if someone has committed a crime, according to a new report from the BBC.

The technology works as a kind of “brain fingerprinting,” the BBC reported on Monday, and it’s supposedly more reliable than traditional lie-detector tests because the scans look for a specific signal that the brain emits when a person is prompted about a particularly powerful memory.

Proponents of the tests told the BBC the scans can help law enforcement determine if a suspect was directly involved in a crime, while critics said the test results could be skewed and there are still some uncertainties about the brain’s supposedly automatic response to the memories.

Scientists at Northwestern University are currently testing if it’s possible for a person to trick the brain scans by trying to forget about an event, the BBC reported, and many were successful.

Though this research is just now being performed, the BBC noted Indian police have used brain scans since 2003 and the technology has already helped render a guilty verdict in a poisoning case.

Spiritual preparedness highlights Williams’ seminars at Morningside

Dr. Paul Williams has authored a book that extensively details the practical steps people can take to prepare themselves for disasters, covering everything from purchasing emergency supplies to preparing evacuation plans. But there’s one area he wishes he could have gone into more detail — how people can be spiritually ready for whatever will happen in the days ahead.

Williams had the opportunity to do just that when he visited Morningside this week.

Williams, the author of “When All Plans Fail,” hosted three one-hour preparedness seminars for the Morningside community. Much of the doctor’s seminars focused on spiritual preparedness, something he only touched on in the book, with a common theme woven throughout his talks.

Williams asked those in attendance to ask themselves a series of questions.

“Has my desire to be prepared and protect myself and my family caused me to lose sight of my calling and life’s purpose in Christ Jesus?” he said. “Am I trying to hang on to an American Dream? Do I love Jesus more than things in this world? … Life does not consist of the things that a man possesses. That’s not what life is. The way you live your life portrays your true beliefs.”

The doctor’s seminars echoed recent calls from Pastor Jim Bakker to make 2016 the Year of the Bible and return to the Word of God to ensure people are spiritually prepared for Christ’s return.

Williams’ seminars focused on how people should live in the last days, tying in Biblical stories and messages and the own lessons he learned during his more than 200 medical mission trips.

“We live in very unique times, don’t we?” he said during one seminar at Morningside. “I guess that in any time that I’ve ever been here, this is probably one of the greatest in terms of the sense of responsibility for what’s coming down the pike and trying to get out the message and trying to mobilize us in terms of what needs to be done.”

Williams emphasized the importance of spiritual preparation during his final seminar.

“If you are not spiritually ready and all you have done is your physical preparation, it can be taken away from you,” he said. “You don’t know what’s going to be there. But (no one can) take your salvation away from you. They cannot take your spiritual walk with God away from you.”

He spoke of being ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), being transformers in churches and neighborhoods and being ministers of reconciliation to a broken world. He said it was important for people to view things the way that God would want them to look at them, and not to focus on the headlines, but rather what these days truly mean for the true believers.

“You can become discouraged if all you do is look at the dangers around you,” Williams said in an interview. “If you just look at all the evils that are all around us — politically, financially, World Wars. … If (Christians) just look at what’s immediately around them, they lose sight of ‘You know guys, we’re going to win.’ Whether we live or whether we die, we’re victorious.”

He challenged those in attendance to go out into the world and put God’s will and words into action — not to just hear or read the words in the Bible, but go out and perform them on an everyday basis.

“I believe the need for what is being expressed is so great that we’ve got to get it down into our spirit and not just have it in our heads, but to actually have in our spirit and to actually take action on it,” Williams said during a seminar.

He said that the number of people who are “truly prepared” for the great trials ahead has increased a little bit, but it was “nowhere near where it needs to be.” He stressed he has also seen people letting their need to prepare get in the way of what remains truly important: God.

“We’re supposed to live for the Lord. Our purpose in life is to love him more than we even love family. What’s happened — particularly with certain teachings that have gone around … it’s almost as if Christianity and God are there to just supply our needs,” Williams said in an interview. “Now, don’t get me wrong, he does supply our needs. Matthew 6:33 very clearly says ‘Seek first the kingdom of heaven, and his righteousness, then all these things will be added to you.’ But before that, he said ‘after all these things that gentiles seek.’

“I think what’s happened, even in the area of preparedness, we’re seeking those things as opposed to God,” Williams continued. “God will take care of us. I’m not trying to downplay the importance of being wise and preparing. When you see a storm coming, you prepare for it. There’s wisdom there. But we don’t rely on ourselves. … God considers it as wickedness to rely on your own strength. It’s wicked, because what it says is we’re not really recognizing the source of all power and authority, which is in God himself.”

For those wondering what steps to take in these days, Williams offered some advice: Seek God.

“If you don’t see far in the distance, that’s OK,” Williams said during one of his seminars. “If you just know what the next step is going to be, if you just know what God wants you to do on the next step, just take that step and don’t worry about what the next one is.”

Williams goes into more depth about disaster preparedness and steps people can take to get physically and spiritually ready in “When All Plans Fail,” available in the Morningside store.

TERROR ALERT: Since the 1980’s groups of Muslims have been provided finances from their governments (including Morocco) to come to America, getting visas and finding jobs, to eventually participate in an American “Jihad.” They are given a phone number to call. There are warehouses in all 50 states with weapons, and when “the word” is given, they will be given an address to go to pick up their weaponry, and as one Muslim said, “America will burn.”

When Obama opened the Mexican border numerous Muslims, some speaking Spanish, posing as Mexican immigrants came into America. Obama is demanding to allow Syrians, (98% Muslims) to enter America – with untold numbers who could be possible terror agents.

There are hundreds of sleeper cells, including cells in Knoxville, Tennessee, Lexington, Kentucky and throughout the Southeast, including in the mountains of West Virginia. Recently, two Muslims with Kentucky tags was spotted locally video taping numerous buildings, including churches. I received a message -connected with the U.S. military, that when a radical leaders says publically, “Last days brothers-last days,” the United States won’t know what hit them! They are targeting places around the holidays.
It is time to get security in all malls, schools and churches, and visit “Smith and Wesson” and get your conceal and carry permit. Report suspicious activity, and yes, get a security team that WILL PROFILE individuals when needed. Israel is not afraid to profile anyone at anytime, and this is why they have stopped numerous attacks.

When a knife wielding radical comes toward anyone in Israel, to stab them, they will be shot dead by police or a “packing” Israeli. Christians, get your head out of the sand and realize terror has come to America and it is only beginning. Benjamin Netanyahu told me, “They will use your laws to get inside the country then use your freedoms against you!” There is much but I will restrain from sharing it on an open page.
